Making Changes to Your Account
Your life circumstances change and so should your account. If you have changes you would like to make to your account, ACU is happy to assist you! Should you need to update your account, please see the information below as to what you will need to provide to the credit union in order for your changes to be in effect.
Adding a Joint Owner
A joint owner is a person that has equal rights of ownership to your account. This person(s) have the ability to transact on the accounts they are assigned, have online banking access and also have the ability to close the entire membership. The credit union strongly recommends only trusted individuals be added as joint owners on any account.
To Add a Joint Owner, the credit union will required the following information: non-expired government ID,full name, social security number, date of birth, address and phone number.
If the joint owner does not have your current address, you will need an additional piece of address verification. Only the following verification documents will be accepted: current utility bill, current bank statement, current lease agreement or Iowa Assessors/Beacon website.
Once added, the member and all joint owners will be required to sign a new account card reflecting the change.
Add A Beneficiary (Payable on Death)
Adding a beneficiary to the account instructs the credit union to disburse the funds to the person(s) at the time of your death. However, if joint owners are listed, all the funds and account ownership will be transferred to them first. (See credit union for full details).
To Add A Beneficiary or Beneficiaries, the credit union will require the following information: full name, social security number, date of birth, address and phone number. If a photo ID is available, a copy of it would be helpful but not required.
The member and all joint owners (if applicable) will be required to sign a new account card reflecting the adding of a beneficiary. The beneficiary is not required to sign the account card.
